Copperleaf

This short shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 128 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has many very thick, wavy stems covered in very thick, rough, brown bark, and the wood inside is yellow-brown.

The branches are tall, rigid and upright with hundreds of twigs that and are covered with copious amounts of huge, very thin, leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are copper with dark brown tips, frail and soft.

In late summer it produces copious amounts of large, blue blossoms with 6 umbrella-shaped shaped petals. They are hardy and have a delicate scent that smells like warm milk.

In early winter triangular fruits ripen. The sticky orange skin is stretchy and inedible, and the crunchy bold orange flesh is bitter and juicy. The lime seeds are large and are scattered throughout the fruit.
