Clinging Trumpetfruit

This large fruit tree grows up to 37 feet (11.3 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 31 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a sturdy, crooked trunk covered in hard, ridged, brown-green speckled bark, and inside, the soft wood is pale yellow.

The branches trail down to the ground and are covered with copious amounts of tiny, asymmetrical leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are cyan at the bottom and ashy blue with yellow edges at the top.

In early spring, it produces handfuls of tiny, turquoise blossoms with spear shaped petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They are very delicate and have a strong scent that smells like new carpet.

In early autumn it produces tiny, slender, 3 pointed fruit. The clammy brown skin is tough and sweet and sour, and the slightly crunchy red flesh is sweet and sour and powdery. The olive seed is tiny and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
