Bloodroot Succulent

This short caudiciform grows up to 7 feet (2.1 meters) tall. The wide stem is moss green, and is covered in sharp spines. It has a straight, thin, blood red trunk atop a thick tripod of waxy, exposed roots. The branches are narrow and gray-green and are very short and thin.

The serrated-edged, long, tapering leaves are generally aquamarine. They are tough, but detach easily.

It is very fast growing, taking 3 months to reach maturity. Once mature, a handful of flowers, with slate petals and a cyan central disk, grow at the top, reappearing once every 3 years. The flower head is shaped like a bowl with 37 widely spaced, round-tipped petals. It has a fairly strong scent that smells like freshly baked bread.

The caudiciform's skin is thick, the white flesh is rough, and the azure sap is thin.
