Emerald Blood Cactus

Succulent type: Stem succulent (Stores water in its stem)

This average-sized cactus grows up to 53 feet (16.2 meters) tall. It splits partway up the body to form 6 wispy stems. Each stem is emerald, and is covered in lots of flexible blood red spines.

It is very slow growing, taking 18 years to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, a handful of flowers, with solid hazel petals decorated with cream dots and a purple central disk, grow at the top, reappearing after 2 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of up to 40 petals. It has a weak scent that smells like pine needles.

The cactus's skin is nearly impenetrable, the olive flesh is smooth, and the aquamarine sap is thin.

It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
It can flourish even in standing water.
