Clinging Blueberry

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This short fruit tree grows up to 7 feet (2.1 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 28 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a stocky, wavy trunk covered in thin, cracked, brown-green bark, and inside, the flexible wood is yellow.

The numerous branches are short, rigid and upright and are covered with large amounts of large, spear shaped leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are found in lilac, dark green and sky blue varieties.

In early spring, it produces a handful of tiny, blue blossoms with many layers of petals. They are very delicate and have a delicate scent that smells like coconut.

In early autumn it produces tiny, circular fruit. The soft slate skin is peel-able and edible when cooked; it is sour, and the crunchy magenta flesh is overwhelmingly bitter and very dry. The yellow seed is very large and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
