Crimson Split Cactus

Succulent type: Stem succulent (Stores water in its stem)

This small cactus grows up to 11 feet (3.4 meters) tall. It splits partway up the body to form 2 wispy stems. Each stem is gray, and is covered in handfuls of rigid bright red spines. The wedge-shaped body is burgundy, and is covered in hundreds of flexible slate spines.

It is steady-growing, taking 23 months to reach maturity. Once mature, several flowers with solid cyan petals decorated with black dots and a orange central disk grow at the top, reappearing once every 2 years. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of up to 40 curved petals. It has a soft scent that smells like freshly baked bread.

The cactus's skin is very thick, the white flesh is leathery, and the silver sap is thin.

It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
The colour changes depends on whether the soil is acidic or alkaline.
