Copper Fruit Tree

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)

This huge fruit tree grows up to 61 feet (18.6 meters) tall and lives for up to 10 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 35 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a narrow, wavy trunk covered in thin, rough, brown-green bark, and inside, the very dense wood is burgundy.

The abundance of branches are tall, rigid and upright and are covered with sparse amounts of miniature, thin leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are slate and orange.

In early spring, it produces a thick sheet of small, cyan blossoms with asymmetrical petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are hardy and have a delicate scent that smells like glue.

In early winter it produces tiny, slender, 8 pointed fruit. The rubbery copper skin is thick and inedible, and the very soft silver flesh is sweet and spicy and juicy. The light brown seed is small and is in the centre of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
