Crimsonvine

Climbing plant type: Bine (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This average-sized bine is a steady-growing plant, with the largest known specimen reaching a length of 39 feet (11.9 meters) and growing as high as 40 feet (12.2 meters).

It takes 16 months for the burgundy stems to mature, by which point they have often fused together into ropes with a diameter of 4 inches (10 cm) and are tough and woody.

The stiff, pointed, leathery leaves reach up to 1.3 feet (38 cm) in length. They are found in crimson and blood red varieties, and have smooth edges.

During late spring, the bine produces handfuls of small lime flowers, and during the early summer, after flowering, it produces plenty of large seed pods.

It makes a distinctive sound when the wind blows through it.
The sap is turquoise.
It comes in 25 varieties.
It is suitable for creating fine, soft textiles
