Blueberry Tree

This short fruit tree grows up to 8 feet (2.4 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 34 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a long and flexible, straight trunk covered in delicate, wrinkled, brown-green bark, and inside, the light wood is dark brown.

The thick clumps of branches are long and thin and are covered with large amounts of tiny, thin leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are sky blue and lilac.

In early spring, it produces large amounts of small, vibrant blue blossoms with long, tapering petals with a tube-like floral cup. They fall easily and have an intensely strong scent that smells like rotten eggs.

In early autumn it produces tiny, cuboid fruit. The clammy aquamarine skin is peel-able and edible when boiled; it is sweet and bitter, and the soft white flesh is sour and syrupy. The cream seeds are large and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
