Copper-Fruit Tree

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This enormous fruit tree grows up to 75 feet (22.9 meters) tall and lives for up to 40 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 62 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a slender, twisting trunk covered in knobbly, black with white speckled bark, and inside, the dense wood is copper-coloured.

The branches are short, rigid and upright and are covered with large amounts of tiny, perforated leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are grey with yellow tips.

In early spring, it produces a handful of medium-sized, red blossoms with oblong shaped petals. They are sturdy and have a scent that varies in strength that smells like garlic.

In mid-summer it produces tiny, needle-like fruit. The rough yellow skin is tough and sweet, and the soft white flesh is sweet and dry. The black seeds are large and are bunched at the top of the fruit.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
