Flower type: Biennial (Stores water in its leaves)This modest-sized flower grows up to 1.9 feet (58 cm) tall. Its silver stem is very thick, and the miniature, gold or bronze leaves are very narrow and elongated with jagged edges. Many leaves grow along the entire length of the stem.
A single giant flower sits at the end of each stem. The flowers are 10 cm (3.9 inches) wide, with brilliant green petals and a yellow center. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of 10 petals. They are sturdy.
It has an intensely strong scent that smells like old shoes, and it has very little pollen. It is pollinated by the wind, but is also visited by some specific types of insect.
It grows well in the sun and full shade.
