Copperfern

This small shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for around 79 years. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has numerous wide, straight stems covered in cracked, copper-coloured bark, and the wood inside is light brown.

The branches trail down to the ground with hundreds of twigs that and are covered with thick bunches of large, pleated, leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are solid bright blue or slate, with silver zig-zags, flexible and fuzzy.

It produces large amounts of medium-sized, light brown flowers with 2 crescent-shaped shaped petals. They detach easily and have a weak scent that smells like warm milk. In late winter it forms tinylilac aril (seeds with fleshy covers).
