Crimson Succulent
Succulent type: Caudiciform (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)This short caudiciform grows up to 12 feet (3.7 meters) tall. The very narrow, elongated stem is green and bronze, and is dotted with small crimson spines. It has a angular, thick, hazel trunk atop a flat tripod of wrinkled, exposed roots. The branches are very thick and yellow and trail down across the ground.
The ripped-edged, wide leaves are solid crimson with crimson splotches. They are rigid, and are very difficult to pull away.
It is steady-growing, taking 21 months to reach maturity. Once mature, a handful of flowers, with brown petals on the lower layer and deep yellow petals decorated with turquoise dots on the inner layer. The central disk is grey, grow at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is shaped like a heart with 56 widely spaced, round-tipped petals. It has a strong scent that smells like a newborn baby.
The caudiciform's skin is rock-hard, the faded blue flesh is rough, and the grey sap is thin.
It is suitable for creating fine, soft textiles
It only grows on the most fertile lands.
