Bloodbark
Tree type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)This modest-sized tree grows up to 44 meters (144.4 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 117 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.
It has a wide, straight trunk covered in wrinkled, silver and white bark, and inside, the soft wood is brown.
The numerous branches are very long and thin and are covered with small amounts of crispy, tiny, pleated leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are generally blood red.
In late summer it forms tiny, faded blue aril (seeds with fleshy covers).
The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.
Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
