This copper moss is commonly found growing in small clumps In bogs, and In marshes.
It is modest-sized, growing up to 5 inches (13 cm) tall. It forms in thick clumps and they are exceptionally hardy, and is very sturdy; it is very difficult to kill.
When mature, emerald flame-shaped capsules grow at the end of long, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the mid-autumn to release thousands of spores; it can cause allergic reactions.

It releases hallucinogenic smoke when burned.
It out-competes most other plants for nutrients and light.
It is suitable for use as a construction material
