Brown Moss

This brown moss is commonly found blanketing tiny areas On rotten logs, In damp forests, and In moorlands.
It is short, growing up to 1 inch (3 cm) tall. It forms in sparse patches, and is very light.
When mature, emerald spiral capsules grow at the end of long, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the mid-summer to release dozens of spores.
