Bronze

This short fruit tree grows up to 7 feet (2.1 meters) tall and lives for up to 35 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 82 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a stocky, straight trunk covered in ridged, silver and white bark, and inside, the very light wood is light brown.

The tangled mess of branches are very short and thin and are covered with handfuls of huge, thin leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are emerald with brown tips.

In early spring, it produces copious amounts of large, purple blossoms with circular petals. They are very delicate and have a scent whose strength depends on external factors, such as soil quality and rain frequency that smells like rotten eggs.

In late autumn it produces tiny, fan-like fruit. The fuzzy bronze skin is delicate and inedible, and the crunchy white flesh is sweet and sticky. The hazel seeds are small and are bunched at the top of the fruit.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with patches of undergrowth between them.
