Bronze Starflower

Succulent type: Caudiciform (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This big caudiciform grows up to 8 feet (2.4 meters) tall. The fan-like stem is yellow and bronze, and is covered in brittle green spines. The twisting, white trunk can grow to as much as 8 feet (2.4 meters) in diameter at the top. Its green branches are long and slender and start growing at the top the stem.

The copious amounts of tattered-edged, very narrow and elongated leaves are solid bronze with indigo patches. They are durable, and take some effort to detach.

It is very slow growing, taking 25 years to reach maturity. Once mature, a single flower with petals that are either gold or sky blue, with a yellow center grows at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is shaped like a star with 5 tightly layered, round-tipped petals. It has a weak scent that smells like freshly baked bread.

The caudiciform's skin is thin, the sky blue flesh is rough, and the caramel sap is thin.

It is suitable for making paper
