Silverleaf Trumpetvine

Shrub type: Deciduous (Stores water in its leaves)

This small shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for around 27 years. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has dozens of branched, twisting stems covered in cracked, dark gray bark, and the wood inside is pale yellow.

The branches are short stubs with thousands of twigs that and are covered with large amounts of small, slender, pointed, leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are found in magenta and silver varieties, sturdy and flexible and waxy.

In early summer it produces large amounts of small, silver flowers with circular petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They detach easily and have a weak scent that smells like paint.
