Brown Forest Moss

This brown moss is commonly found blanketing large areas On trees, and In heathlands.
It is huge, growing up to 10 inches (25 cm) tall. It forms in thin clumps, and is extremely flimsy; it dislikes being stepped on.
When mature, emerald heart-shaped capsules grow at the end of short, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the late summer to release millions of spores; it can cause allergic reactions.
