Burgundy Moss

This burgundy moss is commonly found blanketing tiny areas In heathlands.
It is large, growing up to 9 inches (23 cm) tall. It forms in sparse patches, and is very tough.
When mature, emerald oval-shaped capsules grow at the end of short, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the mid-autumn to release millions of spores; it can cause severe allergic reactions.
