Amberleaf

Shrub type: Coniferous (Stores water in its stem)

This average-sized shrub grows up to 2 feet (61.0 cm) tall and lives for around 46 years. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has dozens of long and flexible, straight stems covered in fine, waxy, brown and grey bark, and the wood inside is burgundy-brown.

The branches trail down across the ground with thousands of twigs that and are covered with large amounts of miniature, very thin, leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are solid amber or hazel, with black patches, durable and fuzzy.

It produces a handful of small, pink flowers with pleated petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are very delicate and have a mildly strong scent that smells like rotten meat. In mid-summer it forms smallorange, winged seeds that spin and fall nearby.

It is suitable for making strong rope
It can absorb up to 13 times its own weight in water.
All parts of the leaf succulent are edible.
