Blood Red Winding Flower

Flower type: Annual (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This small flower grows up to 3 inches (8 cm) tall. Its blood red or olive stem is very thin and straight with a curved tip, and the large, gray-green leaves are brown on the underside and are sickle shaped with rounded edges. Many leaves grow along the entire length of the stem.

Each stem splits 6 to 8 times; a single tiny flower grows at the end of each split. The flowers are 9 cm (3.5 inches) wide, with caramel petals that gradient shift to bold orange on the outer edge. The central disk is yellow. The flower head is largely flat with many raised narrow petals. They detach easily.

It has the faintest scent that smells like burning wood, and it has a fair amount of pollen; it does not cause many allergic reactions. It is pollinated by the wind.

It is suitable for making paper
