Bloodvine

This short leaf succulent grows up to 9 feet (2.7 meters) tall. The thin stem is orange-yellow, and is covered in many flexible yellow spines. The smooth-edged, 5 pointed leaves are either blood red or drab purple, with turquoise dots. Small amounts of them grow from the base like rose petals. The leaves are resilient, and take little effort to detach.

It is very slow growing, taking 17 years to reach maturity. Once mature, a handful of flowers, with petals that are indigo in the center, beige in the middle and blood red at the edges, grow at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is made up of 35 petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight dish. It has a powerful scent that smells like freshly baked bread.

The leaf succulent's skin is thick, the bronze flesh is soft, and the bright green sap is thin.
