Mahogany

Tree type: Coniferous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This average-sized tree grows up to 41 meters (134.5 feet) tall and lives "forever", with many known specimens being tens of thousands of years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a wide, straight trunk covered in paper-thin, cracked, mahogany-coloured bark, and inside, the hard wood is burgundy.

The branches are short, rigid and upright, with hundreds of twigs covered with large amounts of small, gray needles. The needles themselves are flexible.

In late summer it produces large, white, spiky-shelled seeds.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with patches of undergrowth between them.

It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
