Caramel

Succulent type: Caudiciform (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This modest-sized caudiciform grows up to 54 feet (16.5 meters) tall. The pleated stem is green, and is covered in handfuls of rigid light brown spines. It has a straight, thick, orange trunk atop a flat mess of rough, exposed roots. The branches are flat and gray and are tall, rigid and upright.

The tattered-edged, sickle shaped leaves are black at the bottom and blood red with brown edges at the top. They are flimsy, but take some effort to detach.

It is slow growing, taking 30 years to reach maturity. Once mature, several flowers with aquamarine petals and a turquoise central disk grow at the top, reappearing once every 9 years. The flower head is shaped like a cube with 6 raised, narrow petals. It has a soft scent that smells like perfume.

The caudiciform's skin is nearly impenetrable, the green flesh is soft, and the caramel sap is thin.
