Graywind

This large flower grows up to 3.2 feet (97 cm) tall. Its gray stem is very thick, and the large, grey leaves are flame-shaped with rounded edges. Many leaves grow at the base of the stem, and more leaves alternate on the stem from about halfway up, up to the flower head.

Each stem splits 3 to 8 times; a single tiny flower grows at the end of each split. The flowers are 29 cm (11.4 inches) wide, with brown petals and a black central disk. The flower head is shaped like a tube with 25 tightly layered, narrow petals. They fall easily.

It has an overpowering scent that smells like onion, and it has very little pollen; it does not cause any allergic reactions. It is pollinated by insects , but only one species in particular.
