Aquamarine Fern

Shrub type: Coniferous (Stores water in its stem)

This small shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for around 91 years. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has many long and flexible, slanted stems covered in delicate, ridged, yellow-brown bark, and the wood inside is pale brown-grey.

The branches are very long and slender with dozens of twigs that and are covered with small bunches of small, circular, leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are generally aquamarine, rigid and smooth.

In mid-summer it produces lots of small, lime flowers with long, tapering petals. They detach easily and have an intensely strong scent that smells like a woman.

The colour changes depends on whether the soil is acidic or alkaline.
