Blackspeckle

This small shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 165 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has numerous flexible, straight stems covered in very thick, knobbly, white with black speckled bark, and the wood inside is black with white speckles.

The branches are very short, thin and wispy with thousands of twigs that and are covered with small amounts of miniature, broad, flat, leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are found in dark grey, cyan and blood red varieties, hardy and smooth.

It produces several large, violet flowers with many layers of petals. They are very delicate and have a scent whose strength depends on external factors, such as soil quality and rain frequency that smells like fruity. In late autumn it forms smalldull yellow berries.
