Cyanberry

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This short fruit tree grows up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 15 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 35 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a sturdy, straight trunk covered in delicate, smooth, burgundy and brown bark, and inside, the flexible wood is burgundy-brown.

The branches are tall, rigid and upright and are covered with large amounts of huge, perforated leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are either cyan, or red with aquamarine splotches.

In early spring, it produces dozens of large, green blossoms with needle-like petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They detach easily and have the faintest scent that smells like petrol.

In late summer it produces tiny, long, tapering fruit. The rubbery gold skin is thin and inedible, and the very soft red flesh is bitter and oily. The yellow seeds are tiny and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with grassy ground between them.
