Caramel

Shrub type: Coniferous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This big shrub grows up to 7 feet (2.1 meters) tall and lives for around 24 years. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has dozens of stocky, crooked stems covered in fine, silky, black with white speckled bark, and the wood inside is brown.

The branches are tall, rigid and upright with hundreds of twigs that and are covered with very large amounts of miniature, thick, leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are solid caramel or crimson, with hazel edges, light and fuzzy.

In mid-summer it produces a thick sheet of small, sky blue blossoms with 2 triangular shaped petals. They fall easily and have a scent that varies in strength that smells like rainy days.

In early autumn 6 pointed fruits ripen. The fuzzy light brown skin is stretchy and edible when cooked; it is salty, and the slightly crunchy turquoise flesh is sour and dry. The subtle yellow seed is large and is in the centre of the fruit.

It blooms only at night.
It is suitable for making paper
