Amber Spinebulb

This small caudiciform grows up to 4 feet (1.2 meters) tall. The thin stem is red, and is covered in brittle yellow spines. The bulbous, cream trunk can grow to as much as 4 feet (1.2 meters) in diameter. Its green branches are short, rigid and upright.

The serrated-edged, thick leaves are found in beige, aquamarine and amber varieties. They are flimsy, and take little effort to detach.

It is steady-growing, taking 21 months to reach maturity. Once mature, a single flower with hazel petals on the lower layer and green petals decorated with white dots on the inner layer. The central disk is pink grows at the top, reappearing once every 2 years. The flower head is shaped like a dish with 46 widely spaced, narrow petals. It has an overpowering scent that smells like vanilla.

The caudiciform's skin is thin, the drab blue flesh is smooth, and the florescent green sap is thin and can cause blindness if consumed.
