Burgundy Leaf Shrub

Shrub type: Deciduous (Stores water in its leaves)

This small shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for around 84 years. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has several branched, wavy stems covered in thin, rough, burgundy bark, and the wood inside is dark brown.

The branches are short and thick with dozens of twigs that and are covered with very large amounts of miniature, stiff, pointed, leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are olive with white tips, flexible and waxy.

It produces many small, light brown flowers with pleated petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They are hardy and have a strong scent that smells like cherry. In early winter it forms medium-sizedlime, spiky-shelled seeds.


It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
It is difficult to kill and will quickly regrow if it falls or if its limbs are knocked off.
