Copperbell

This big caudiciform grows up to 15 feet (4.6 meters) tall. The thin stem is gray-green, and is dotted with small crimson spines. The twisting, black trunk can grow to as much as 15 feet (4.6 meters) in diameter at the top. Its orange branches trail down to the ground and start growing three quarters of the way up the stem.

The handfuls of smooth-edged, crescent-shaped leaves are a shade of green that gradient shifts to orange at the top. They are sturdy, but detach easily.

It is quick growing, taking 2 months to reach maturity. Once mature, a handful of flowers, with solid gentle yellow petals decorated with olive dots and a aquamarine central disk, grow at the top, reappearing once every 3 years. The flower head is largely flat with 25 widely spaced narrow petals. It has no scent.

The caudiciform's skin is delicate, the copper flesh is sticky, and the gentle yellow sap is thin.
