Indigo Succulent

This short caudiciform grows up to 10 feet (3.0 meters) tall. The spear shaped stem is green, and is covered in sharp spines. The thick, faded yellow trunk can grow to as much as 10 feet (3.0 meters) in diameter. Its lime branches are long and thin.

The jagged-edged, fan-like leaves are found in light brown and indigo varieties. They are tough, and take some effort to detach.

It is steady-growing, taking 18 months to reach maturity. Once mature, several flowers with alternating petals of sky blue and blood red, with a lime central disk grow at the top, reappearing once every 2 years. The flower head is shaped like a trumpet with 9 widely spaced, narrow petals. It has a powerful scent that smells like burning wood.

The caudiciform's skin is thin, the beige flesh is smooth, and the pink sap is thin.
