Caramel

Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This modest-sized fruit tree grows up to 14 feet (4.3 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 50 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a knobbly, wonky trunk covered in knobbly, dark green bark, and inside, the soft wood is yellow.

The sparse amount of branches are short, thin and wispy and are covered with small amounts of huge, spiral leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are generally caramel.

In early spring, it produces a thick sheet of small, olive blossoms with 5 shield-shaped shaped petals. They are hardy and have a delicate scent that smells like mango.

In late summer it produces small, oblong fruit. The rubbery slate skin is delicate and edible when cooked; it is sweet, and the crunchy brown flesh is bitter and oily. The subtle orange seed is large and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with patches of undergrowth between them.
