Blueberry

This short fruit tree grows up to 9 feet (2.7 meters) tall and lives for up to 45 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 59 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a slender, straight trunk covered in thin, silky, dark green bark, and inside, the hard wood is mahogany-coloured.

The branches trail down across the ground and are covered with handfuls of miniature, very narrow and elongated leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are sky blue on the sides and purple at the center.

In early spring, it produces lots of medium-sized, turquoise blossoms with many layers of petals. They are sturdy and have an overpowering scent that smells like roses.

In late summer it produces large, 4 pointed fruit. The hairy cyan skin is delicate and inedible, and the soft sky blue flesh is spicy and very dry. The dark brown seed is tiny and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
