Copper Fruit Tree

Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This small fruit tree grows up to 9 feet (2.7 meters) tall and lives for up to 40 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 47 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a narrow, wonky trunk covered in knobbly, light brown bark, and inside, the hard wood is gray.

The abundance of branches trail down across the ground and are covered with thick bunches of tiny, thick leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are found in azure and dark grey varieties.

In early spring, it produces a thick sheet of medium-sized, silver blossoms with 2 flame-shaped shaped petals. They are hardy and have an overpowering scent that smells like onion.

In late autumn it produces , asymmetrical fruit. The smooth copper skin is thick and inedible, and the soft sky blue flesh is sour and very dry. The bronze seed is large and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with grassy ground between them.

It is suitable for making baskets and the like
