Crimson Tree

This average-sized tree grows up to 52 meters (170.6 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 374 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a long and flexible, straight trunk covered in delicate, smooth, light gray bark, and inside, the very dense wood is pale brown-grey.

The extensive patches of branches are very long and thin and are covered with sparse amounts of covered in fine hairs, giant, 8 pointed leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are solid red or black, with dark grey patches.

In early spring, it produces hundreds of small, olive blossoms with wide petals. They are sturdy and have an intensely strong scent that smells like old shoes.

In late summer it forms small, olive berries.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
