Burgundy Candleflower
Shrub type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)This short shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for around 50 years. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.
It has dozens of stocky, crooked stems covered in rough, black bark, and the wood inside is burgundy.
The branches are long and thin with thousands of twigs that and are covered with small amounts of huge, spear shaped, leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are found in white, cyan and grey varieties, durable and rough.
It produces copious amounts of large, pale purple flowers with long, tapering petals with a tube-like floral cup. They detach easily and have a powerful scent that smells like candle wax. In mid-summer it forms giantcaramel, shelled seeds.
It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
It grows well in the sun and full shade.
