Copperfern

Shrub type: Deciduous (Stores water in its leaves)

This small shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for around 99 years. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has dozens of thick, straight stems covered in thick, wrinkled, copper-coloured bark, and the wood inside is yellow.

The branches are short, rigid and upright with hundreds of twigs that and are covered with handfuls of huge, 7 pointed, leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are caramel and vivid green, robust and crispy.

It produces several giant, light brown flowers with 3 pointed petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They are sturdy and have an overpowering scent that smells like warm milk. In late spring it forms tinyslate, tough-shelled seeds.

The trunk and branches are covered in large spikes.
All of it is said to be part of one single, massive plant.
It is suitable for making baskets and the like
