Copperbrush

Shrub type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This big shrub grows up to 7 feet (2.1 meters) tall and lives for around 30 years. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has several slender, straight stems covered in rough, white with black speckled bark, and the wood inside is pale yellow.

The branches trail down across the ground that and are covered with thick bunches of miniature, long, tapering, leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are cream and copper, resilient and rough.

It produces thousands of tiny, red flowers with broad, flat petals. They are sturdy and have an overpowering scent that smells like petrol. In late spring it forms smallbronze berries.


It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
It commonly grows in large patches.
