Grayflare

This small caudiciform grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall. The perforated stem is green, and is covered in brittle light brown spines. The slanted, black trunk can grow to as much as 1 foot (30.5 cm) in diameter at the top. Its bronze and cream branches are short, rigid and upright and start growing a quarter of the way up the stem.

The copious amounts of irregular-edged, pleated leaves are a shade of gray that gradient shifts to white at the top. They are resilient, and are very difficult to pull away.

It is slow growing, taking 5 years to reach maturity. Once mature, a handful of flowers, with caramel petals and a yellow center, grow at the top, reappearing once every 6 years. The flower head is made up of many petals in raised layers. It has a fairly strong scent that smells like garlic.

The caudiciform's skin is very thick, the cyan flesh is smooth, and the washed-out green sap is thin.
