Amberberry

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This small fruit tree grows up to 8 feet (2.4 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 43 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a slender, twisting trunk covered in fine, rough, black bark, and inside, the hard wood is dark brown.

The small bunches of branches are short stubs and are covered with very large amounts of huge, very thin leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are either amber, or florescent red with light grey splotches.

In early spring, it produces copious amounts of giant, hazel blossoms with long, tapering petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They are sturdy and have a faint scent that smells like fruity.

In early summer it produces small, long, curved fruit. The smooth gold skin is peel-able and savoury, and the slightly crunchy florescent red flesh is salty and syrupy. The olive seeds are tiny and are located in the centre of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with clear space between them.
