Peach

This average-sized shrub grows up to 4 feet (1.2 meters) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 131 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has many knobbly, straight stems covered in thick, waxy, dark green bark, and the wood inside is burgundy-brown.

The branches trail down across the ground with hundreds of twigs that and are covered with copious amounts of large, stiff, pointed, leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are grey at the bottom and peach with black lines at the top, robust and fuzzy.

In early summer it produces thousands of giant, green blossoms with pleated petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are very delicate and have a powerful scent that smells like fish.

In late winter fan-like fruits ripen. The smooth yellow skin is delicate and edible when boiled; it is bitter, and the slightly crunchy violet flesh is sweet and sour and very juicy. The gold seeds are large and are dotted around on the skin of the fruit.
