Amber

Succulent type: Caudiciform (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This enormous caudiciform grows up to 174 feet (53.0 meters) tall. The tapering stem is amber, and is covered in copious amounts of rigid orange spines. It has a wonky, bulbous, slate trunk atop a wide stilted platform of wrinkled, exposed roots. The branches are bulbous and lime green and are short stubs.

The serrated-edged, needle-like leaves are found in florescent purple and bronze varieties. They are rigid, and do not detach easily.

It is slow growing, taking 22 years to reach maturity. Once mature, a handful of flowers, with petals that are silver in the center, deep blue in the middle and florescent purple at the edges, grow at the top, reappearing once every 3 years. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of 37 curved petals. It has a delicate scent that smells like soap.

The caudiciform's skin is thick, the lime flesh is leathery, and the gentle orange sap is thin.

The stems are covered in large spikes.
A particular bird species likes to nest in it.
It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
