Copperberry

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its leaves)

This short fruit tree grows up to 7 feet (2.1 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 45 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a knobbly, straight trunk covered in waxy, silver bark, and inside, the very dense wood is copper-coloured.

The sparse amount of branches are very long and thin and are covered with thick bunches of large, wispy leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are either cream, or red with green lines.

In early spring, it produces handfuls of giant, indigo blossoms with umbrella-shaped petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are very delicate and have a strong scent that smells like a woman.

In mid-autumn it produces , long, tapering fruit. The rubbery ashy yellow skin is peel-able and edible when boiled; it is bitter and sour, and the slightly crunchy red flesh is sweet and very dry. The pastel yellow seed is tiny and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with grassy ground between them.

It is suitable for making baskets and the like
It absorbs an exceptionally large amount of water each day.
