Ashen Maple

Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its leaves)

This average-sized tree grows up to 58 meters (190.3 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 549 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a branched, wonky trunk covered in very thick, rough, light gray bark, and inside, the light wood is black.

The sparse amount of branches are short, rigid and upright and are covered with large amounts of smooth, miniature, very thin leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are ashy red on the edges and caramel at the center.

In late summer it forms giant, green seed pods.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with patches of undergrowth between them.

It is suitable for making baskets and the like
The grains are bitter, but very healthy and overwhelmingly sour.
