Bloodvine

Shrub type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This small shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for around 33 years. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has dozens of sturdy, slanted stems covered in thin, ridged, yellow-brown bark, and the wood inside is yellow.

The branches are very short and thick with dozens of twigs that and are covered with thick bunches of huge, kidney-shaped, leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are a shade of red that gradient shifts to red at the top, tough and sticky.

In late summer it produces a handful of giant, washed-out red blossoms with 2 umbrella-shaped shaped petals. They are sturdy and have a soft scent that smells like meat.

In early autumn long, straight fruits ripen. The waxy blood red skin is peel-able and edible when cooked; it is sweet, and the crunchy olive flesh is bitter and oily. The gold seeds are tiny and are scattered throughout the fruit.
