Black Cube Flower

Flower type: Annual (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This short flower grows up to 1 inch (3 cm) tall. Its gray stem is very thin, and the small, moss green leaves are 7 pointed with smooth edges. The leaves alternate on the stem from about halfway up, up to the flower head.

Two small flowers sit at the end of the stem. The flowers are 2 cm (0.8 inches) wide, with black petals and a bold red central disk. The flower head is shaped like a cube made up of 15 raised, round-tipped petals. They are very delicate.

It has a fairly strong scent that smells like rotten meat, and it has lots of pollen; it does not cause many allergic reactions. It is a self-pollinator, but is also visited by a variety of insects.

It is suitable for making strong rope
